Hans Wegner Papa Bear Chair

To reupholster this authentic Hans Wegner Papa Bear Chair, we used traditional methods to restore the natural fillings and replace the cover to match its original design.

After some minor frame repairs, we renewed the perished latex cushion fillings and fitted new rubber webbing in the seat. We then replaced the damaged lining cloth before top-covering the chair in a red wool fabric.

A solid beach wood frame provides a base for the chair’s coil-sprung back, as well as the cotton, palm and flax fibre stuffing inside its enormous bear paw armrests. Together, these materials offer incredible support and help the chair become even more comfortable with regular use.
